In October, Zurich becomes a stage for architecture, film, and urban experimentation: the first Architecture Festival Zürich invites visitors to experience architecture in all its dimensions — from exhibitions and film screenings to discussions and interactive formats such as the Creative Marketplace and urban walks.

Festival Highlights
Exhibition (from October 14, Zentralwäscherei)

The festival exhibition presents artistic perspectives that rethink architecture:
Maria Pomiansky & Vadim Levin document Zurich’s urban transformation through painting and felt-tip drawings.

Room Lines (Florian Bachmann & Marcus Pericin) transforms space into a three-dimensional drawing with glowing light lines.

Patricia Bucher presents large-scale sculptural works and furniture made from leftover materials, continuing the idea of reuse and transformation.

Film Program & Discussions
The festival presents a diverse program of international and Swiss films, including several premieres.

Talks & Discussions

Talk: Women in Architecture – voices, projects, and debates centering on female perspectives and collective practices.

Artist Talk & Book Launch: David Szauder – the media artist speaks about art, architecture, and AI, accompanied by a short film and book presentation.

Panel: Architecture Magazines in Dialogue – “Communicating Architecture Communication.” Based on video interviews by HSLU students, editors and guests discuss the work, goals, and future tools of architecture magazines. Moderated by Alberto Alessi and students of HSLU Lucerne.

Talk: Materials of the Future – Make Materials Matter (Søren Pihlmann) and a discussion with the IG Lehm Association Switzerland on the potential of building with clay.

Creative Marketplace (October 18–19)
An open marketplace featuring over 25 exhibitors: stands, spontaneous workshops, and a variety of exchange formats make it a platform for local projects, experimental products, and direct encounters between creators and the public.
