"KATINES-What if this dance is about emancipation?", explores the notion of emancipation from all the potential vantage points/angles that the members of the KATINES group could think/imagine/remember/dream of. Historical dances are mixed with personal dances and dances that for some reason were meant to bring emancipatory moments to someone in the community. Spoken word, sounds and familiar musical pieces create a soundscape that explores poetic, feminist, personal, collective and historical glimpses of the microcosms that the KATINES bring and share. The whole piece is imbued with the simple, subtle and poetic depth that embodied community connection can bring to stage.
