Campaign Olive Oil from Palestine invites speakers from the partner organisation Al-Reef: Saleem Abu Ghazaleh (General Manager), with Hala Hamza (International Relations Department) and voices of farmers.
Since 7 October, the war against Gaza has been reported almost exclusively. The impact of the war in the West Bank, where the core of Israel's policy is more clearly recognisable, is rarely reported on; the mass murder in Gaza takes centre stage. In the West Bank, the core of Israeli settler colonialism with all its repressive techniques is evident. Israeli occupation forces are carrying out daily invasions of the West Bank, with more than 302 Palestinians killed since 7 October. The destruction in refugee camps is an example of the ongoing attacks. Over 4,575 Palestinians have been detained since October, held in appalling conditions in Israeli prisons.
The West Bank economy is suffering due to the disruption of tax remittances by the Israeli occupation. Public employees have not received their salaries for over 2 months and 139,000 Palestinians have lost their jobs on the Israeli side. Israeli forces are reinforcing checkpoints throughout the West Bank to prevent protests.
Despite the challenges, Palestinians remain determined to cultivate their lands and continue the tradition of olive harvesting, epitomising the spirit of steadfastness.
The "Campaign Olive Oil from Palestine" is an example of how you can show solidarity here in Switzerland. It was founded after the 2nd Intifada in 2000. We import olive oil from Al-Reef, the marketing organisation of the Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committees (PARC), which is sold in Switzerland by around 400 volunteers. The proceeds are used to finance projects in Palestine.
With short videos/interviews of the founding members Anjuska Weil, Jochi Weil and Firas Abdelhadi, as well as reports on the projects supported.
