Tatjana Werik comes from the Ukraine. Vivianne Mösli is Tatjana's sister-in-law and the two of them have been connected by family, friendship, the Russian language and theater for 20 years.
They meet again and again and think about what another evening together could look like. They talk about Tanja's foreignness in Switzerland, about their sick mothers, about wars and about their grandfathers who fought against each other in the Second World War, about recipes, about the forest, which they both love very much, and they planned a trip to Ukraine. Then they asked Astride Schlaefli if she could direct the film.
After many conversations, the exchange led to the desire to organize a song recital. Including Russian songs about love. Because there is nothing more beautiful and sad. An evening with borscht, vodka, songs and small acted scenes - that was the plan before the war began.
Now everything is different. An evening of songs about love alone is no longer possible.
But there will still be borscht (or at least freshly roasted sunflower seeds).
With music by S. Gubaidulina, D. Shostakovich, Russian and Ukrainian folk romances and texts by T. Werik, S. Alexievich, M. Tsvetaeva and L. Kostenko.
