On September 3rd and 5th, we invite you to various small events about decolonial resistance and solidarity in the ZW-Halle. Let's come together to listen, share and discuss. In between, there will be the opportunity to sit down and engage in side conversations.
On Tuesday, September 3

17:15-18:15 the mourner (first try)
“The stages of grief in Arabic": Between Asā الاسى and Jaza' الجزع lies a spectrum of emotions and their forms of expression.
(@hashim.y.a)

In this performance I explore the physicality of grief. Although I have never directly witnessed my Arab-Muslim family grieving, I am fascinated by female practices around loss and tragedy in the SWANA region. As I listen to “Please don't make me cry” by Lianne La Havas, I hope this performance will make me (and maybe you) cry, because there's a lot we can cry about, so let's do it and do it together.

18:30-19:00 Gnawa x Gjama e burrave
Stories are told about North African and Albanian mourning ceremonies. Accompanied by music. Showing similarities in mourning in different cultures.

19:15-19:30 “Ya Chill” screening
“Ya Chill” is a short film inspired by the words ‘silence, memory, shame and protection’. It explores the story of people who are desperately looking for a way to live a better life. So they decided to cook a papaya salad. The film is part of the EQUIS collective project about a decolonial perspective on grief.

20:00-21:00 Reading by the support group Queer Arab Solidarity & LGBTQIA+

21:30-23:00 Film screening
