Project “Artists on Tour“.

‘LEEFWERK’ is a duo formed by Roman Luterbacher & Niels Coppens. Under this Title, they build monumental scenographies. Prototype Sculptures that zoom in on Zeitgeist topics and who do their work as giant diversions and well-planned excuses to write poetic certificates as an effective outcome.

Their new project ‘Artists on Tour’ is a seemingly spontaneous and yet strongly directed lecture performance which comes to life from a van that has been converted into a merchandising stand. A rather professional but also somewhat amateurish self-built touring store where they disguise the sale of their first published book, vinyl record, headwear & t-shirts in a show.

The liberal thinking that shapes cultural policy and thus undermines experimentation, in their view, forces them to approach this subject as a source of experimentation. With 'Artists On Tour', they will impose themselves as 'uninvited artists' by ram raiding the established art scene and selling their oeuvre as cheaply as possible.

The publication, LEEFWERK 2019 - 2021

A substantial publication that reflects the results of our last two projects carried out between 2019 and 2021. In Athens, where we made a series of six sculptures over a period of two years in an abandoned sawmill that we transformed into a production space. Then in Kortrijk, Belgium, where we made a three-month interactive sculpture in the public space.
