My Paradise

Since the Arab Spring reached Syria, a relentless civil war has rocked the city of Serêkanyê (Ras al-Ain). Based on the story of some former classmates depicted in a photograph taken 25 years ago, the film tells the story of the beginning of the Syrian revolution. The film highlights the local cultural diversity and shows the changes and conflicts of an entire region.

From November to December, the Filmclub Populaire and Dem-Kurd Zurich are presenting a Kurdish film program. The aim is to revive watching films as a political act and to create an active space in which knowledge is exchanged, discussed and organized. The Kurdistan region covers the four states of Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria.Genoziden, Assimilierung und Massakern ausgesetzt.
