Whether it's the sexual harassment of seamstresses in Bangladesh, the displacement of indigenous groups for a major project in Brazil or the pollution of the oceans with plastic: Swiss corporations are profiting. Thanks to gaping legal loopholes, they cannot even be held accountable. This has not changed since the Responsible Business Initiative 2020 was buried in Bern despite a majority of voters. Even in the EU, a corporate responsibility law has now been passed. It is high time for Switzerland to follow suit. That is why we are taking to the streets again in January 2025 to collect signatures.
To kick off the new Responsible Business Initiative, the Zurich regional group of Public Eye is hosting a panel discussion on Human Rights Day. A dance and spoken word performance by Lovina Koenig and Sanelisiwe Yekani will set the mood for the panel discussion.
Four experts from politics, science, journalism and activism will speak on the panel.
