Immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers and illegal migrants, These are all categories we often hear circulating in the public discourse without a meaningful reflection on who fits in them. The lack of such reflection lies in the fact that those who arrive here are hardly ever given a voice and visibility. More frequently politicians and humanitarian agencies assume the role of representing those who settle here, he or she is either a threat to national identity or a voiceless victim escaping endless war.

In “through cooking we will include” we seek to undo this discursive discourse by offering a point of contact between locals and transnationals. Cooking is widely seen as a means of preserving one’s original culture and national identity, and an important role in the process of inclusion.

So what's better than offering a space where people can be fully represented while cooking delicious traditional food?

A group composed of people from “Welcome to school”, Zentralwäschrei and other interested people will cook a mixture of persian and turkish dishes. We welcome all guests to enjoy these delicious foods with us from 18:00 on. We hope to have an interesting exchange with people of many different backgrounds.
