Movie Night - ZW x HRFF

In February, Zentralwäscherei collaborates with the Human Rights Film Festival and Kino Kosova to host two Movie Nights – carefully curated films moving between political cinema, personal stories, and collective memories.

About the film: ON BECOMING A GUINEA FOWL

Late at night, on her way home from a costume party, Shula drives down an empty road and discovers her uncle’s body lying on the ground. As preparations for the funeral begin, she and her cousins gradually uncover the family’s buried secrets, while their aunts would rather lay them to rest along with Uncle Fred. With her Cannes-awarded feature film, oscillating between dark comedy and social drama, Rungano Nyoni delivers a sharp, biting reckoning with the lies we tell ourselves — breaking more than a few taboos along the way.
