‘Betray your tongue: Eruptions of an affect alien’

Performance 28/29/30 July

‘Guilt is a bittersweet symphony which can wrap itself like a corset of speechlessness around those who encounter it. ‘

Those good girl goggles, they rest in pillows of shame. Relax into gambling. Grow tongues like a garden. Codes rinsing out of our flesh. Embracing hot cold streams of lava.

‘Betray your tongue: Eruptions of an affect alien’ is situated as a performance, an enterable archive, a place of shared experience. Transdisciplinary choreographer, dancer and performer Francesca Valeria Karmrodt entangles with the notion of guilt, harmonized behavior and speechlessness deprived through power structures. The work experiments with potential ways of taking agency and reimagining prominent descriptions of reality through a practice of deterritorialization. Shedded bodies wander through molten lava, spread poems of polyphony and bite into our skin.

Francesca Valeria Karmrodt (she/her) is a choreographer and performer currently based in Berlin. Her transdisciplinary practice entangles around intersectional cyber feminism, affect ecologies and atmospheres of collectivity. Her performances have been invited to Akademie der Künste Berlin, brut Wien/imagetanz Festival, ACUD MACHT NEU Berlin/emergent spaces, Kulturbunker Köln/Auftakt Festival, Uferstudios Berlin among others. She uses technological bodies, voice and media natures as convergent transmitters of her artistic research. Francesca studied at MUK Vienna, Angewandte Vienna, UdK & FU Berlin in the fields of contemporary dance, performance, new media and philosophy.
